Your Christmas decorations are down, the red and green are gone, and all the pine is taken out of your vases. Now what? It's still cold and snowy outside, but it's not Christmas time anymore. How do you decorate for winter without bringing out all the red and green of Christmas?
I think decorating for winter is something a lot of people struggle with. It's hard to find the balance of cozy without being Christmasy. Here are my favorite ways to decorate for winter.
1. Whites and neutrals
This is something I like to use all year round, but especially in the winter time. It reminds me of snow. Crisp white and light neutrals are cozy and relaxing. All you need is a cup of tea and a good book!
2. Texture
Adding texture will add some design interest. This works well when you're using neutrals. Instead of using different colors, use neutrals and use different textures to add the interest.
3. Add cozy accents
Adding cozy accents like throw blankets and a lot of pillows will make your home feel like a retreat. In the winter time what is more appealing than snuggling up on the couch with a warm blanket and being nestled in a mound of pillows?! Maybe adding some of that tea I mentioned above.
4. Candles
Candles are a great way to make a space feel cozy. I like to look for candles that are in a neutral container, that way I stay with my neutral theme.
I hope you found these tips helpful! I love decorating in the winter time, it's so cozy and I love using neutrals.
